resources

Below I have included some links to research about Art Therapy, trauma, therapeutic play, and other resources I think might be useful especially for parents of clients.

  • One of my favorite resources for parents is the Playful Wisdom blog from Olympia Therapy. These Play Therapists write wonderfully informative blog posts and create easy-to-read documents about what children are experiencing at different ages and how to address different behaviors. A few of my favorites are What Do You Do, When You Don't Know What To Do As A Parent? all about the Window of Tolerance for children and adolescents (and adults!) and When they all look alike: ADHD, Anxiety, & SPD.

  • The Whole-Brain Child by Dan Siegel continues to be one of my favorite resources to recommend to parents and caregivers as they are reflecting on communication styles and behaviors. This book is a wonderful, practical resource for learning about the brain and implementing the information into your daily life.

  • The Skill of Listening is one of the most important skills to develop (and can be really hard!), I like this basic primer on active listening and how to reflect for children and parents.
